Connect with our IBCLC teamWhat is lactation support?
Lactation support is personalized, expert guidance to help you and your baby establish and maintain a healthy feeding relationship. Our IBCLCs are trained to assess latch, milk supply, positioning, and any challenges that arise — and to work alongside your doula and care team for seamless support.
At Doula Lab, we believe every family deserves access to high-quality lactation care regardless of insurance status. We accept Medicaid and work with families across Southern Illinois and the St. Louis Metro area.
Our lactation services
Comprehensive support from pregnancy through weaning — wherever you are in your journey.
Prenatal lactation consultation
Get a head start before baby arrives. We'll cover positioning, latch basics, what to expect in the first days, and how to set yourself up for success.
In-hospital support
Our IBCLCs are available to visit you in the hospital during the immediate postpartum period — the most critical window for establishing breastfeeding.
Postpartum home visits
Once you're home, we come to you. We'll assess feeding, check weight gain, troubleshoot challenges, and provide hands-on guidance in your own space.
Pumping & milk supply guidance
Whether you're exclusively pumping, returning to work, or building a freezer stash, we'll help you optimize your pumping routine and storage.
Latch & positioning help
Pain, shallow latch, or nipple damage? We'll identify the root cause and give you practical, evidence-based solutions that work for your body and your baby.
Tongue tie assessment & referral
We screen for oral restrictions that may affect feeding and coordinate referrals to trusted providers for evaluation and treatment.
